SWIM-SM 1st Meeting of the Core Desalination Group (CDG)

The main objectives of the 1st Meeting of the DCG are (a) To review, discuss and validate the findings of SWIMSMassessment on the desalination Best Available Technologies (BAT) for rural and remote areas; (b) To discussthe necessity for the formulation of a regional vision and strategic plan for desalination tacking stock of existingknowledge and good practices, including previous assessments by UNEP and UNEP MAP, EC funded projects ontechno-economic potential on combined solar power desalination plants, work of specialized organizations,etc.; and (c) To establish a dialogue with national desalination experts on desalination BAT applicable to theregion.
