International Scientific Conference: "Global changes: Vulnerability, Mitigation & Adaptation"

The forthcoming scientific event continues the tradition started by the Faculty of Geology and Geography, to incorporate the capacity of our scientific community for facing the challenges of our time. In regards of these, four conferences on the topic “GLOBAL CHANGES” were held at the Faculty during the last four years. Researchers from Bulgaria, Germany, Russia and the countries of Southeastern Europe and USA have participated at these conferences. The presented scientific works have been published in English. The conferences have brought to enlargement of the scientific contacts and have developed new collaborations between the participants.

Objectives:

• To emphasize the role of interdisciplinary approach in revealing and solving the Global changes related problems;
• To contribute for better understanding the integrated impact of Global changes on the Environment and the Society at Regional scale;
• To define the research works priorities considering different aspects of Global changes and to set the topics for future conferences.

This Conference will discuss the questions, concerning the Global changes impact to the Ecosystems, the Regional socio-economic systems and the Institutional structures. In accordance with this idea, all the theoretical, methodological and conceptual reports
presenting contemporary problems solving ideas to Global changes are expecting with a great interest. Special attention will be dedicated to reports, proposing science based ideas for measures application concerning Regional adaptation to Global changes.
