Innovative processes and practices for wastewater treatment and re-use in the Mediterranean region
A research project supported by the European Commission under the
Sixth Framework Programme Specific programme: Integrating and Strengthening
the European Research Area Activity area: Specific measures in support of
international co-operation for Mediterranean Partner Countries
(INCO-MPC).
INNOVA-MED "Innovative processes and practices for wastewater treatment and
re-use in the Mediterranean region" is a Coordination Action started in
January 2007 that will last 3 years. The Consortium is composed by 13
partners that, in addition to EU countries, involves members from Morocco,
Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine and Turkey.

Objectives | The objectives of the project are:
In reference to the last point, a number of training course will be organised with the aim to develop capacity building at the local level. The last course, held in Turkey, was dedicated to "Innovative Processes and Practices for Wastewater Treatment and Re-use". |

Results |
Five expert groups will be established, horizontally linking the complementary research of different projects coordinated by INNOVA-MED and facilitating the transfer/dissemination of their results and achievements to the researchers, end-users and stakeholders from the MPC. Three expert groups will focus on technical developments related with the wastewater treatment and re-use, while two expert groups will cover socio-economic and management aspects.
The training program for young scientist, practitioners, end-users and other interested parties will consist of a series of INNOVA-MED courses organized in MPC countries. Course 1 - Turkey,
8-11 October 2007 (download
presentations) The courses will cover the following topics: (1) Scientific/technical training on the different thematic areas involving the analysis of wastewaters and their treatment and re-use with the specific topic as follows:
(2) Thematic training on global issues with the following specific topics:
