WFD and International River Basin Commissions

The International River Basin Commissions have an important role in coordination of WFD implementation in the EU Member States. Below you will find links to the most active River Basin Commissions in Europe.

Within the WFD Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) a network of Pilot River Basins has been established. Here, river basins are fore-runners in WFD implementation and glean a great deal of hands-on experience from the process.
