Earth Negotiations Bulletin: A Reporting Service for Environment and Development Negotiations
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Expert Group Meeting
on Methods and Tools and on Data and Observations under the Nairobi Work
Programme on Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change (NWP)
was held from 4-7 March 2008 in Mexico City, Mexico. Approximately 102
participants were in attendance, representing governments, UN agencies and
constituted bodies, academia, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and
those contributing as experts. The meeting aimed to identify specific
practical actions and recommendations on methods and tools, and data and
observations for addressing impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate
change.
The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations for: assisting in
the use and application, advancing dissemination and sharing experiences,
and promoting development
and improvement of methods and tools; and promoting implementation and
improvements, improving capacity for collection of, management and use of,
and exchange and access to data and observations.
