Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between ACSAD and OSS
Eng. Hussein Laswad, Assistant Director- General of the Arab Center for the
Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) and Dr. Youba Sokona, Executive
Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) signed a Memorandum of
Understanding at ACSAD's headquarters in Damascus, Syria. The signing of the
Memorandum of Understanding took place at the end of a visit paid to ACSAD
by Dr. Sokona which lasted from 9 to 11 January 2008.
The fields of cooperation under this Memorandum of Understanding include,
among other things, land degradation, water resources, training and
technology transfer and information systems. The two parties will
exchange data and information, organize training courses and scientific
gatherings and train Arab and African technical cadres in different fields.
