2nd Meeting of the Task Force on Water-related disease
SCOPE AND PURPOSE:
1. To review the burden of disease from drinking-water in the European
Region and to summarise the major health risks related to
drinking-water ;
2. To review and to assess challenges, experiences and health-related
risks linked to small water supplies in the Region, taking particularly
into account social and economic aspects ;
3. To identify and to review current approaches in the Region to regulate small scale water supplies ;
4. To share information in relation to good practices, best available
technologies and management approaches for small scale water supplies ;
5. To confirm the Water Safety Plan (WSP) approach, as proposed by the
WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality, as an effective approach for
managing and improving water safety in small scale supplies ;
6. To identify and to review existing guidance on the application of
the WSP approach in small scale water supplies in the Region and in
other regions ;
7. To identify critical needs for enhancing the feasibility of
implementing WSP approaches in small scale water supplies with
particular focus on effective regulations and capacity building ; and
8. To contribute to regional networking as well as exchange of
information, knowledge and experiences on small scale water supplies in
the European Region
