Public Private Partnerships in the Water Sector
This short course familiarizes water sector managers and development professionals with key issues in strategic management.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will know how to analyze the institutional capacity of water organizations within their country and sector environments.
Key Description: Participants will be exposed to the taxonomy of models of water organization (municipal, regional, parastatal, and various private modes), their strengths and weaknesses, and their adaptability to particular needs and circumstances. They 40 will have gained deeper knowledge on the critical preconditions (legal change, economic regulation, benchmarking, and facilitation) for successful private sector participation in the water sector.
Participants will also have a deeper understanding of the fundamental differences between community oriented and customer oriented approaches to utility management.
Course fee is 2040 Euro. Duration of course is 3 weeks. Deadline for application is 09 June 2007.
