<![endif]-->A Geographic Information System
(GIS) is a valuable tool for gathering and analyzing environmental information.
GIS enables effective and efficient manipulation of spatial and non-spatial
data for scientific management of water and develop alternatives of development
model for the benefit of local people. It also facilitates modeling to arrive
at locale specific solutions by integrating spatial and non-spatial data such
as thematic layers and socio-economic data. The database generated will also
help the authorities in planning and change monitoring. It is an excellent tool
for representing the information geographically which is easy to visualize and
interpret.
