News Tunisia could recover 10.1 billion cubic meters of rainwater

According to a water expert from Paris Descartes University: Tunisia, which is under level of extreme water poverty (i.e. below 500 cubic meters per year per inhabitant -430 for Tunisia), can become self-sufficient in water if it adopts a system of channels. The expert estimates that every year, some 10.1 billion cubic meters of rainwater is poured into the sea and that 4.825 billion cubic meters of this rainfall could be recovered by developing a system of channels from Oued Medjerda to south of the country. The realization of such a project, explained the expert, could not only solve the water problem in Tunisia, but also create 600 thousand "economically efficient" jobs
