3rd EIP Water conference: How to foster innovation and special innovation winner

The European Water Innovation prize was given to Resolute Marine Limited (RML) for Wave2OTM a renewable energy sea water desalination (using only wave power) during the European Innovation Platform conference held on 10th of February in Leeuwarden (NL) and attended by 550 persons. The selection was made by an independent jury that had to choose among 3 pre-market solutions. The 2 others were Microbia Environment, with a predictive monitoring system for harmful algal blooms, and Smart H2O with business intelligence tools. This year the EIP conference focused on how to transfer innovation from labs or demonstration sites to the water market. Even if a miracle solution was not identified, the debates allowed to discuss the main constraints of the market and the low level of private investment funds financing start-up and innovation in this domain.
