News MEDRC Awards 16 Scholarships to Palestinian Students for MSc Degree Studies

As part of its annual scholarship program to Palestinian students, MEDRC has awarded 16 scholarships to students in Gaza to study for MSc degrees in subjects relevant to desalination and water reuse. Scholarships are for Al Azhar University and the Islamic University, both in Gaza. An additional 12 MSc scholarships will be awarded to students in the West Bank. Candidate selection for these is in progress.

The MEDRC-PWA Center of Excellence (CoE) Scholarship Program started in 2012 with the award of 21 MSc scholarships to students in the West Bank and Gaza. In addition, in the last five years as part of its MENA Regional Scholarship Program, MEDRC has awarded 6 MSc/PhD scholarships to Palestinian students, 5 for study abroad and 1 for study in Gaza. The objective of these scholarships is to make a long-term contribution to the capability for development and operation of desalination and water reuse in the Palestinian Authority.

The core and strength of the MEDRC-PWA CoE Scholarship Program is the circle of university professors who nominate the scholarship candidates and the dedicated team of professionals at the Palestinian Water Authority who assist MEDRC in final selection and implementation of the awards. The universities involved in this program are: Al Azhar University, the Islamic University, An Najah University, Birzeit University, and Al Quds University.
