News UN WWAP Survey on potential themes for world water development report 6 & 7

As you may know, the WWAP, a UN Water Programme housed in UNESCO, monitors freshwater issues in order to provide recommendations, develop case studies, enhance assessment capacity at a national level and inform the broader decision-making process as it relates to water. Its primary product, the UN Water flagship publication “World Water Development Report (WWDR)” is  a comprehensive review and an overall picture of the state of the world's freshwater resources, which aims to provide decision-makers with the tools to implement sustainable use of water resources.

Until 2012, the UN World Water Development Report was published every three years. From 2014 on, the WWDR will become an annual report, with a thematic focus and a standardized structure, and it will include data and case study annexes. It will be a 100-page annual report, which will be accompanied by a synthesis report published every five years.

The Theme for the WWDR5 that will be published in 2014   is “Water and Energy”.In view of the next publications and to fullfill UN Water specific request, WWAP has decided to carry out a consultation with stakeholders from various fields to identify emerging and water-related critical issues originated inside and/or outside the water box, which could become potential WWDR themes for the 6th and 7th editions to be published in 2015 and 2016.We are asking you to help us in this effort by completing a survey, which is designed to elicit the opinions of a representative number of those involved in or associated with water resources with respect to eight themes selected in December 2012 by WWAP’s Expert Core Group.

We would ask that you click on:http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XYG6YF5

This will bring up the survey.  We would appreciate it if you could complete the survey by 21 January 2013.

As you will see, there is an introductory part in which you will be asked to provide some basic information about yourself so we can sort the responses across the demographics.  Your information will be maintained strictly confidential and none of your answers will be attributed in any way to you.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact us at feedback@unesco-wwap.org.
