News DAAD Serial Summer School on IWRM: September 10 - 23, 2012

Please take note of this summer school on IWRM, organized by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ and the German Water Partnership e.V.

The coordinated management of water resources is fundamental for sustainable development. The integration of different disciplines and linkage of ecological, economic and societal development goals are essential when developing future water management plans.

The aim of the Summer School is the transfer of interdisciplinary knowledge for water resources management and the professional, technical and methodological exchange between participants and

research institutions in Germany. Modern management tools and techniques will be presented that are developed in running research projects in regions outside the European Union.

The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ together with German Water Partnership host the DAAD Serial Summer School "Integrated Water Resources Management" for Master, PhD students and professional trainees with three consecutive

Summer Schools from 2012 to 2014.

- CV

- Letter of motivation (highlighting field of interest in the water sector)

- Summary of research/PhD topic (1 page)

- Transcript of records/diploma with grading key

After acceptance by the organizers, participation is compulsory. In case of cancellation after July 31, the costs of accommodation have to be paid by the participants.

Costs & Grants:

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) priory funding line "Sustainable Water Management (NaWaM)" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports 20 students from Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Jordan to participate in this Summer School.- Course fee: fully funded - GIS course: fully funded, bring your own laptop - Accomodation: (hostel with breakfeast) is fully funded - Travel: lump sums will be funded (Indonesia 825 €, Iran 550 €, Jordan 700 €, Mongolia 625 €, Vietnam 1.150 €, Kazakhstan 525 €).The participants have to arrange arrival and departure by themselves.
