News Call for abstracts for AARSE 2012 International Conference: Earth Observation & Geo-information Sciences for Environment and Development in Africa: Global Vision and Local Action Synergy

The challenges facing Africa are enormous, and it is imperative that special attention be paid to him in the implementation of an integrated development plan. Active and dynamic involvement of African countries in this process is essential for these countries to make tools of Earth observation, strategic and operational tools in their development programs.

During the last two decades great progress has been made in the applications of remote sensing. No one disputes the impact of work in various fields such as disaster assessment, agriculture, mining, detection of anthropogenic and natural dynamics (pollution, drought, forest fires) and thematic mapping to different scale. Scientists agree that remote sensing can be of great help in the evaluation and monitoring of natural resources of the planet and thus for sustainable development, particularly in regard to environmental issues.

Morocco has long tradition in remote sensing activities at the continental scale. It has long nurtured a growing interest in the development of science and space technology as a preferred vehicle for the implementation of national socio-economic development. This interest is focused both on the applications and space technologies themselves.

On behalf of the African Association of Remote Sensing of the environement (AARSE) and the AARSE 2012 Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to El Jadida, Morocco for AARSE 2012. This will be the 9th biannual AARSE conference and will continue the excellent tradition of gathering world-class scientists, engineers and educators engaged in the fields of remote sensing and environment. We believe that the scientific themes of this event, focusing on the characterization of dynamic Earth processes, assimilation, today's and upcoming satellite missions and integrated Earth observing systems will allow the formation of a most interesting technical program. We remind you that the participation in AARSE conference is open to all colleagues interested in or working in the fields of geo-information science, technologies and applications in Africa; abstracts received by the deadline will be considered for program placement under the standard peer review process. The AARSE_2012 Technical Program Committee will organize accepted abstracts into oral or interactive poster sessions, based upon the mode in which the material can best be presented, and the composition of high quality oral and interactive sessions. A first call for papers with more information about the conference will be issued by the end of this year.

Deadline for abstracts submission: 30 April 2012
