News Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) in the context of Developing and Transition Countries

Water is a limited resource but crucial for our future. Especially for countries in the South and East water management is a big challenge with a high potential of conflicts.

We are glad to send you the program of the:

Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) on the topic of “Integrated Water Resource Management in the context of Developing and Transition Countries”.

The CAS is a joint project of the following partners:

• CDC, Centre for Development and Cooperation, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering

• CDE, Centre for Development and Environment, University of Bern

• EAWAG, Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology

• FHNW, University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, School of Life Sciences

• HELVETAS, Swiss Association for International Cooperation

• INTERCOOPERATION, Swiss Foundation for Development and International Cooperation

• SDC, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

• SHL, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Swiss College of Agriculture

• SKAT, Swiss Resource Centre and Consultancies for Development

• UBC, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada

• OESCHGER CENTRE, Climate Change Research, University of Bern

The CAS is endowed with 10 ECTS credits, has a modular structure and consists of a preparatory work, two ten-day courses as class instruction and a project work. The class instructions will take place in Switzerland during the last two weeks of August 2011, respectively 2012:

15. – 26.8.2011

13. – 24.8.2012

Our highly qualified instructors guarantee a sound professional and methodical study programme with a strong focus on the specific preconditions in the selected Developing and Transition Countries.

The multifaceted program offers sufficient space for the participants’ personal inputs for exchange of know-how or the consolidation of selected topics in the frame of excursions or field tests.
