Project Officer for the East Africa Region, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, The Netherlands [deadline 19 March]

IRC is currently seeking candidates for the position of Project Officer to work on projects and with partners in its East Africa Regional Programme (EARP), in particular in the Triple-S (Sustainable Services at Scale) project in Uganda. This project will identify, develop and test decentralised models for the delivery of sustainable rural water services in developing countries. The project will use a range of research, learning, communication and behaviour change approaches.

Salary:                 BBRA scale 10 (min. €2,396.62 and max. €3,852.13)
Duty station:  The Hague, The Netherlands, with regular missions to East Africa (est. 50% of the time)

Requirements include:

• Academic degree at masters or comparable level in a relevant discipline, preferably in environmental engineering, social sciences, (inter-cultural) communication, international/development economics or management
• Relevant professional experience, including a minimum of one year (including experience during graduate studies) in development processes in developing countries. Experience related to water supply, sanitation, public health, IWRM, infrastructure development, environmental management, local government or similar sectors preferred
• Fluent in English (verbally and in writing), and mastering one other language (preferable Portuguese or French)
• Working permit for The Netherlands (granted automatically for EU citizens), and will require being physically based in The Netherlands
