News Jordan: Technical Assistance: Disi Aquifer and SCADA System Analysis

The Grantee invites submission of qualifications and proposal data (collectively referred to as the "Proposal") from interested U.S. firms which are qualified on the basis of experience and capability to provide technical assistance to improve the groundwater management and utilization efficiency of the existing water well network and pumping system that serves the city of Aqaba, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Technical Asssistance will consist of a comprehensive hydraulic analysis of the Disi aquifer well field, which serves as the main source of drinking water to the city of Aqaba, and assess the technical requirements and financial feasibility of implementing a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and operate the entire well network.

The AWC is considering the implementation of a SCADA system to improve the efficiency of well system operations in Aqaba. The proposed SCADA system would gather information such as where a leak on a pipeline has occurred, transfer the information back to a central site, alert the home station that the leak occurred, carry out the necessary analysis and control, and display the information in a logical and organized manner.

Response Due: 17 January 2008.
