Launch of the new "Water Demand Management Glossary"-2nd edition
The Regional Water Demand Initiative (WaDImena) of the International Development Research Centre has announced the launch of the second edition of our online "Water Demand Management glossary". The glossary is part of the Regional Water Demand Initiative in the Middle East and North Africa (WaDImena), and aims to contribute to a more in-depth and holistic understanding of water demand management (WDM) concepts and terms.
The glossary is developed in three languages: Arabic, English and French and targets policy makers, research groups, NGOs and other practitioners working on water demand management and promoting the efficient, equitable and sustainable use of water.
The tri-lingual glossary on WDM is part of WaDImena different activities to promote better water policies and systems and advance new learning on better water use in the much water-scarce Middle East region.
The second edition, released in July 2007, comes as an evolution to the earlier 2004 edition, providing 500 additional terms, as well as, further editing for older terms to accomodate both the technical and the management water-practictioners.
A number of researchers from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) have taken part in the collection and translation of that glossary building on the organization's efforts to foster quality research for human development.
