SMAP RMSU Regional Workshop on Information and Communication: improving environmental knowledge and reporting in the Mediterranean

The SMAP RMSU is organising a Regional Workshop on Information and Communication in Rome for the next 30 and 31 of October "Information and communication for improving environmental knowledge and reporting in the Mediterranean". The meeting will deal with the SMAP Clearing House development process, and the possibility to contribute to the other ongoing regional processes.

Main objectives:

1. To discuss lessons learned from the SMAP Clearing House initiative and to identify further steps for integrating it into regional information systems. 

2. To discuss additional information needs of the environmental stakeholders in the Mediterranean region in terms of  policy and reporting requirements, content, formats, tools and dissemination channels.

3. To share experiences on environmental information systems and  challenges in developing them (users involvement,  management, integration of  environmental and socio-economic information/data, sustainability), in order to identify steps to improve the common  environmental knowledge base in the Mediterranean.
