Final Conference of ISIIMM Project

The Final Conference of the ISIIMM Project (Meda Water Programme - funded by the European Union and implemented by Agropolis International and its partners) will take place in Montpellier (France) from Wednesday 28th to Friday 2nd of March 2007.
This two and a half day conference will be focused on sharing the experiences of the ISIIMM partners and teams from the North and the South. The results of the ISIIMM Project’s activities since May 2003, in the field of “social and institutional innovations in irrigation Mediterranean management” will be presented through a summary of the project activities and a general  synthesis of the case studies.
One of the key actions of the project was the exchange of experience during some fifteen bi and trilateral seminars between the six partner countries (Egypt, France, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco and Spain).  Most of the seminars being held in the Meda countries,  and complemented by field visits with farmers, managers of public organisations and canal managers.
Several thematic seminars (WFD, Irrigators Associations, Irrigation Management in Mountainous areas, Institutional aspects) were also organised within the framework of the ISIIMM project on key issues that have been targeted since the beginning of the project.
Concrete actions (SWaMMA micro-project in Egypt, AIRMF in France, Irrigators association in Lebanon, ..) have been initiated with local stakeholders and will be continued thanks to the strong relations developed. Through fostering and creating a wider partnership, ISIIMM project hopes to secure ongoing future collaboration on the ISIIMM initiatives developed throughout the course of the project.
