Novatech 2010 - 7th International Conference on Sustainable Techniques and Strategies for Urban Water Management

Since 1992 every three years, in Lyon, the Graie has been organizing Novatech, one of the main International conferences on sustainable techniques and strategies in urban water management. The co-organizers of the symposium are the Urban Community of Lyon, the Rhone-Alps Region, Water Agencies, Eurydice 92, INSA of Lyon and ASTEE. ). 

The NOVATECH conference deals with sustainable and alternative solutions for management of wet-weather flows (stormwater and CSOs) in urban and suburban areas.
Many changes have taken place since the first Novatech 1992. Water issues are now the most serious concern for citizens and political leaders alike. Improving rain water management - especially at urban scale - is one of the major challenges of development that everyone wants to see as sustainable.
Moreover the research for sustainable solutions is relevant only if the appropriate spatial scales and all the stakeholders concerned are taken into account. This issue covers a broader field than just drainage and concerns more specialists than just drainage professionals. That is why the 6th Novatech conference will deal with three complementary dimensions of urban water management during wet weather:
- Innovative technologies for stormwater management: design, implementation and operation of devices;
- Integrated strategies and approaches in urban planning, urban design and water management: general strategies and specific approaches from individual buildings to municipalities;
- The management of aquatic environment with watershed management, assessment and control of urban wet-weather flows and impacts.
