Event Middle East Desalination Summit 2010

Middle East region is considered to be the most water scarce regionin the world, with the highest levels of water deficit. According to theWorld Water Council, the population of the Middle East and North Africa(MENA) region is less than five percent of the world population, but itreceives only one percent of the world's renewable water resources.

Whilethese figures are frightening it emphasizes the importance of desalinationin this region. Most of the countries in the region are unable to meetcurrent water demand and many already face serious challenges. In orderto meet the growing demand for water there has been a recent increasein desalination projects.

Research and technological developmentsare in pursuit of cost-effective desalination such as solar energy, nanoand molecular technology to play critical roles in formulating futurewater supply solutions. As the region's economy and future dependson the ability to address water scarcity issues this summit will focus ondesalination technology as a viable solution to water shortage and areliable source of water and a strategic option for satisfying current andfuture domestic water supply requirements.

The conference will throw light on latest developments indesalination technology and provide new strategies for furtherresearch and development.it will act as a platform and will provide an opportunity to learnhow to cut operating costs, improve safety, optimize yield andincrease production rates.Meet and network with industry peers from the internationaldesalination community
