Circle the Med

This new timing was considered to be more appropriate because of the major milestone of the COP27 and the current developments in the Mediterranean Region. The CTM 2022 will build on the findings and recommendations of the COP27 and will take into consideration the important developments in the Region in regards to energy transition, climate neutrality, zero pollution and food security. 

Circle the MED 2022, the par excellence climate and environmental diplomacy forum, will take place in a hybrid form from 23-27 of November 2022 broadcasted simultaneously from Athens, Greece, (Zappeion Megaron) and Cairo, Egypt with physical presence and online participation.

Circle the MED has been building bridges between the North and the South shore of the Mediterranean, as well as between the East and the West, through the development of networking, best practices, exchanges and twinning activities; promoting the concept of Circular Mediterranean and enhancing the circular economy model as the one that will ensure a smooth energy transition and the carbon neutrality of the Region.

Building on the 6 Pillars of Circular Economy: Cultural Heritage, Green Growth, Blue Economy, Renewable Energy, Smart Cities and Sustainable Tourism, this year more focus will be given to SME’s providing an opportunity for businesses leaders to engage in transformative circular as well as climate and innovation actions that deliver key social  and  economic impacts  and meet the urgency of the climate crisis of the Mediterranean. Since Europe and the Mediterranean need the vision, engagement and participation of all the young people to build a better future that is greener, more inclusive and digital, this year’s Forum will also give the floor to young leaders promoting the 2022 European Year of Youth.

Circle the MED 2022 has been awarded the official status of a POST COP27 event by the Ministry of Environment of Egypt and will be present during the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 – COP27 in November in Egypt.
