International Conference and Exhibition: HYDRO 2014: Building on Recent Development Progress

HYDRO 2014 is less than two weeks away, but there is still time to book if you have not yet done so.  Accommodation in the conference hotels is now extremely limited, so please register quickly to ensure accommodation close to the conference and exhibtion.  The Final Bulletin, with Programme and registration details, and the on-line booking system, can all be accessed via our website, by clicking here.  Please note that the on-line booking system will close at midnight on Friday 10th October.  After that, it will be possible to register on-site in Italy (but it would be helpful if you would let us know in advance if you intend to do so).  It is better to use the on-line booking system as soon as possible, to ensure that we can issue you with a badge and necessary documentation as quickly as possible when you arrive, to avoid delays at the Registration desk.   Key themes in this year's programme are:

• Maximizing the benefits of hydropower (multipurpose schemes, transboundary developments, retrofitting and upgrading)
• The role and benefits of large and small hydro
• Approaches to finance, with emphasis on projects in the less developed countries in Africa and Asia
• Regional sessions reflecting development opportunities
• Innovations in technology
• Safety of dams, powerplants, gates and penstocks
• Hydrological risk
• Environmental and social issues
• Encouraging the next generation of hydro engineers.

It is still possible to book two of the study tours, which will take place on Thursday 16th October.  Tour A in Lombardy will visit two historical small hydro plants: Paderno and Trezza.  Tour B will visit Lake Maggiore and the Roncovalgrande pumped-storage scheme (1016 MW).  Limited places may still be available on Tours C and D.  Further details of all the tours can be found in the Final Bulletin via our website (click on "Brochure PDF" at the bottom of the page).   More than 180 companies will present their products and services at the major HYDRO 2014 Exhibition.  There are only two possible stand positions remaining, so if your company or organization is interested in taking part, please contact our Sales & Marketing team immediately: sales@hydropower-dams.com
