Fifth meeting of the Parties to the Water Convention

The fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Protection and
Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention) will be held
from 10 to 12 November 2009 in Geneva, at the invitation of the Government of Switzerland.

The meeting will consist of a general segment and a high-level segment. The general
segment, dealing with agenda items 1–9 and 11–19, will take place on Tuesday, 10 November,
Wednesday, 11 November and in the afternoon of Thursday, 12 November. The high-level
segment, dealing with item 10, will be held on the morning of Thursday, 12 November, starting
at 10 a.m.

A number of side-events will be organized during the meeting. A detailed programme of
these side-events will be available in October 2009. Additional practical information on the
