Event A High Level European Policy Summit on "Water Security: Does Europe Have a Strategy?"

Whether it be drought or flooding, water management is becoming a major policy challenge throughout the EU and the question now is whether the solutions being applied are proving successful.  Water imbalances can have harmful effects for economic growth. If climate change makes water problems more acute, what is the connection between water security and energy security? And what are the right policy responses? The solution depends not only on policies but also on finances: what investment opportunities are there to scale up water infrastructures and make water consumption more sustainable?
Featuring amongst others:
Stavros Dimas, EU Commissioner for Environment
Lucia Ana Varga, Secretary of State, Ministry of Environment and Water Management, Bulgaria, and President of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River
Brigita Schmögnerova, Vice President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
