Event Experts visit: Algerian, Tunisian looked at the French Water Information System

Following the feasibility studies on developing National Water Information Systems -NWIS- in the Mediterranean partner countries and the regional EMWIS seminar organized in June 2006 in Algiers, the Algerian Ministry of Water Resources (MRE) and the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (Directorate General of Water Resources-DGRE-) decided to continue exchanges with France. In this context a study tour was organized from 5 to 9 November 2007 with the competent French institutions. The goal was to review the French experience (common language, standardization of data, partnership agreements, common repository, monitoring committee, European framework, technologies) and to give an opinion on the first steps implemented in Algeria and Tunisia.
