Conference: 'Aquifers recharge under controlled conditions: the Italian experience in the European context'
The conference "Aquifers recharge under controlled conditions: the italian experience in the European context" will take place on Friday, October 3rd in Piacenza, Italy. PAWA Project will be represented by Bernardo Mazzanti and Isabella Bonamini from the Arno River Basin Authority, who will present PAWA progress and results during this event.
The charge under controlled conditions (Managed Aquifer Recharge - MAR) of an aquifer is a process by which the volume of water ordinarily stored in the subsoil is increased at a rate higher than the natural recharge. The plants MAR then geoengineering interventions environment in which the aquifers are recharged with aliquots of water from rivers, reservoirs or non-conventional waters. Potential uses of water recharge consist of: i) the increase in reserves of water for use in critical times ofor drinking water, irrigation, industrial uses; ii) as curbing created by "emungimenti"; iii) examining the effects of subsidence; iv) contain the phenomena of saltwater intrusion; v) the conservation of biodiversity in agro-ecosystems of wetlands.
