Folder 2nd MEDA Water Regional Event on Local Water Management, 28-30 April 2008, Marrakech (Morocco)

The "2nd MEDA Water Regional Event on Local Water Management” is placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI, which will be held in Marrakech (Morocco), from 28 to 30 April 2008.

This Second Event will be composed by the: 2nd MEDA Water Partners Workshop (28 and 29 April 2008) and 2nd MEDA Water Event (30 April 2008). The workshop will be organised around key sessions to discuss the results of the MEDA Water projects as well as a number of significant communications on themes such as irrigation water management, drought management, waste water reuse, rural water management, non conventional water resources, water information. The last day of the conference will be dedicated to presentations of EC water related programmes in the region, a discussion on the workshop recommandations and a review of the Mediterranean countries expectations for a potential follow-up of this program that could be proposed to the Euromed Ministerial conference on water planned in October 2008.

Event Second MEDA Water Regional Event on Local Water Management

This Regional Event is organized by the Regional Monitoring and Support Unit within the framework of the MEDA Water Programme “Euro-Mediterranean Regional Programme for Local Water Management” funded by the European Commission and in coherence with the Declaration of the Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Local Water Management (Turin, 1999).

This Second Event will be composed by the:

  • Second MEDA Water Partners Workshop (28 and 29 April 2008)
  • Second MEDA Water Event (30 April 2008)

These Events aim to:

Optimize the impact of the MEDA Water Projects results by exchanging experiences and know-how gained towards the National Authorities representatives, research, education and training institutions, stakeholders, civil society and local and regional practitioners;

Discuss the MEDA Water Projects results and the need and possibilities for the continuation of similar initiatives in the future, in coherence with EU Water Initiative (Horizon 2020 and ENPI);

Give the opportunity for the local and regional practitioners working in the field of local water management to participate actively.
