Development of stormwater Operational Practices Guideline
Rainwater (also called stormwater) runoff from urban areas can be a major
reason for flooding and surface water pollution. Within the rainDROP
project, stormwater management (SWM) will be developed, tested and
disseminated in four work packages:
1. Integration of stormwater management into urban drainage master planning
will be carried out for the five partner cities in the Czech Republic,
Germany, Greece and Slovakia.
2. Different best management practices (BMPs, e.g. porous pavements,
infiltration swales, trough-trench-systems, cisterns, retention ponds) will
be demonstrated in pilot projects for new development areas as well as for
existing urban settlements.
3. Current SWM policies in the whole CADSES region will be investigated and
compared.
4. Finally a SWM guideline for planning and implementation will be
produced. RainDROP will improve the awareness for stormwater related
problems and seeks to reduce the negative impacts on water balance and water
quality in the CADSES region
